I’ve made this post in an attempt to make Marketing for newbies a little more clearer, at the same time perhaps, I can relate some of my own experiences to help others.
Some years ago my wife took a job working nights, my kids were young then so I found myself baby sitting night after night. Not being one for sitting in front of the TV, I decided to learn about websites and how they work including basic html so I could maintain my own pages.
One of my first web sites was just a page full of ad’s I had no idea how to be a newbie marketer or get traffic to my site, I was under the misconception that, any web site would get traffic and make money, wrong. The result was that I went from building one site to building ten, searching for the ultimate earning opportunity again, wrong.
At the early stages my regular work got busy, this meant my newbie marketing efforts had to be put aside for an undetermined period. Eventually, I got back on the treadmill and applied myself to cleaning up my sites a bit and trying to make some money on line. At this point I began to realise that I was making so many fundamental mistakes it was untrue.
After a while, I decided to enlist the help of various make money offers, I started to buy some make money systems for newbie Internet marketers. Big mistake again, I jumped from one to another never actually putting any of them to bed properly though, my conclusion was that, many of the parts of the puzzle were missing, the magic ingredient never came with the package, always appeared to be ‘how long is a piece of string’.
At that time the closest I came to making money was with Google Adwords, in fact, one day I made $850, I was like a dog with two tales, thought I had arrived and my days as a newbie marketer were over, wrong. It got much harder and more expensive, simply put, the wheels fell off. Google promptly closed my adwords account for copy-rite infringement. In fact Google got fined 3 million euros for a similar problem. It was my own ignorance as a newbie marketer that got me in hot water.
After this experience I became far more cautious, in fact like a tiger with no teeth, running scared. Having bought several more make money systems the penny dropped and I knew that 90% of them didn’t work. I still feel many Guru’s made big money during the good times and now life has got so much tougher, folk are not pulling out a credit card at the drop of a hat.
The main problem facing newbie Internet marketers is, like me they can easily become system junkies, buying in to all kinds of schemes and systems looking for the silver bullet.
The most interesting story I had ever read was about a total newbie marketer, he was a student looking for a particular piece of information, he found it hard to find and when he did find it, he promptly turned it in to an ebook to benefit other students, guess what, he ranked on the 1st page of google with his unique keywords and made $24K in 3 weeks.
The moral in the story is clear, you need to offer what people want to buy, you need to create products and or web property that people will benefit from, the more unique the better chance you have of making some good money and, there will be far less competition.
In my humble opinion, the key to success on line is simple, find something unique, check if there is a market for your item or products, if it’s a topic your passionate about even better, stick to what you know and care about, pull on your own life experiences, there is a rich knowledge base in everyone.
If your just setting out in the theatre of newbie Internet marketing, your best bet is a blog because, a blog is interactive, content rich and tends to do much better in the search engines.Worpress really is so easy to use and has so many point and click plugins that, any newbie marketer can maintain a good blog.
If blogs are not your thing then, second choice has to be CPA (cost per acquisition) you earn anywhere form $1 to $5 just for a lead like name and email address.
TIP: Do not direct link to your offers, pull traffic to your blog and have your offers on your blog. This is a great method to get sales from pay per click campaigns. If your using adwords then, ensure your site is optimised for the keywords you use in your campaign, this gets you a higher google quality score and a lower cost per click. Finally, treat all make fast money offers with caution, 9 out of 10 may not be scams though, far harder for newbie marketers to execute properly. Don’t fall in to the traps, take care not to fall for ‘this offer will close next week’ or the, ‘your honoured we are letting you join the pre launch list’, this is when you convince yourself that you must have the latest Guru techniques. I mean why would you eat poo because 50 billion flies can’t be wrong’ right?
